Tuesday, January 26: You were marked in him with a seal

Read Ephesians 1:11-14

Join us as we explore Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus. The book of Ephesians is a grand yet concise summary of the good news of the Christian gospel, followed by practical exhortations for living out this faith in the midst of everyday life in church, community, and family.

Read Ephesians 1:11-14

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.

Reflect

Paul tells his believing readers that when they heard the gospel, the message of Christ, and believed, they were marked with a seal—the Holy Spirit. How does the Holy Spirit in us act as "a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance"?

Respond

Father, we thank you for including us in Christ, and for marking us with the Holy Spirit. Give us ears to hear your leading through the Holy Spirit, and willingness to obey you. Amen.
