Read Luke 6:39-40

He also told them this parable: "Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher."

Reflect

Surely if we follow in the footsteps of someone exactly like us, we'll eventually fall into a pit. The way of Jesus is to humble us, so we can see our shortcomings and our need of a Savior. This grows our compassion and pushes us to become people who think less of ourselves and have a posture of learning from others.

As we trust in Jesus, we are learning to give up our way, to lay our agenda down and pick up the way of Jesus. What do you need to lay down today? Lord Jesus, thank you for your new mercies every day. Thank you for sending your armor of love to us each and every day. Amen.
