Read Luke 14:25-27

Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters — yes, even their own life — such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Reflect

Underneath the drama of this story that challenges our need for comfort, we're reminded of the first commandment: Love God before all else.

Dear Jesus, teach us to trust you even when we don't know where you're headed. Grant us your grace when we seek comfort in the unknown. Amen.
