Wednesday, October 2: Value others above yourself
Read Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Reflect
Selfish ambition can wreck a church, can ruin a family, and can self-destruct a life. Genuine humility, on the other hand, can build a life, a family, and a community of faith. It means laying aside selfishness and treating others with respect, kindness, and common courtesy.
Respond
By considering the interests of others as more important than your own, you're following the example of humility that Jesus set for us. This is no easy path to walk down. Ask God to help you today to value others above yourself.
