Read Isaiah 50:4

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,

to know the word that sustains the weary.

He wakens me morning by morning,

wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.

When you're listening to someone or something that you're really interested in, how closely do you listen? When you desperately need to learn about something how well do you listen? What might it look like to wake up each morning with awakened ears?

When is the last time you prayed that God would wake up your ears? Perhaps to hear God's voice in the midst of the din of our noisy culture, we need to ask God to wake up our ears and not just our bodies every morning. Tape this scripture to your mirror, make it the home screen of your phone, do whatever it takes to cause you to ponder having "woke ears" today.
