THUS IT IS WRITTEN

LUKE 24:44 HE SAID TO THEM, “THIS IS WHAT I TOLD YOU WHILE I WAS STILL WITH YOU. EVERYTHING MUST BE FULFILLED THAT IS WRITTEN ABOUT ME IN THE LAW OF MOSES, THE PROPHETS, AND THE PSALMS.”

Morning had broken – the tomb was empty and Jesus’ disciples stood in his presence overwhelmed with joyous amazement. The resurrection not only confirmed God’s promises, but stands as the focal point of history. The fact of the resurrection demonstrates how God’s promises can be trusted, it proves that Jesus is the divine Son of God, it accomplishes our justification in God’s sight, it provided us with hope and the spiritual strength we need to face life’s circumstances, it enables us to live fruitful lives, and assures us of eternity with God.

The reality of the resurrection empowered the disciples to become passionate evangelists, convinced skeptics and pagans to believe the gospel, and was the solid foundation of the early church. It has continued to change the course of secular history through the laws and freedoms that are grounded in Christian doctrine and by the way believers have lived out their faith.

Jesus’ brother James was transformed from an unsupportive critic of Jesus’ teaching to a leader of the Jerusalem church willing to be martyred for his outspoken faith. Paul’s life was turned around from being a zealous persecutor of Jewish Christians to become perhaps the most devoted and powerful evangelist the church has ever known.

And the fact of Jesus’ resurrection continues to change lives today. Morning has broken and the light of God’s Son Jesus continues to shine.
