Wednesday, March 10: And led him outside the village

Read Mark 8:22-25

The last days of Jesus' earthly life are filled with significant events and teachings. During these weeks leading up to Easter, we'll travel with Jesus toward Jerusalem and his crucifixion, marveling at his determination to finally fulfill his destiny as the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Read Mark 8:22-25

They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"

He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."

Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

Reflect

Several times now Jesus has been asked to heal someone, and before doing so, he's taken the person out of the village, or away from the onlookers. Why do you think he does that?

Respond

How willing are you to pray in secret for healing for a friend, or healing for yourself? There is something very intimate about trusting God and God alone for deep healing. What's one thing you want God's help with today? Might you be willing to pray very secretly to him about that need, watching for him and him alone to act?
