Thursday, February 4: Who is over all and through all and in all

Read Ephesians 4:1-6

Read Ephesians 4:1-6

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Reflect

Unity is the state of being one, not many. Look at how many ones Paul writes of here: one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. Though we're each individuals, unique and hand-created by God, he calls us individuals together to share in one faith and one hope in one God, to become and remain simply one in him.

Respond

Consider your fellow followers of Christ in your family, your church, your community, throughout the world. Though we sometimes disagree, ask God to give us "the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
