Friday, August 16: Everyone who sees it will ridicule you

Read Luke 14:28-30

"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, 'This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.'"

Reflect

Jesus raises the question, Are you serious about the project of the Christian life? Spend some time reflecting on how you organize yourself best for a project that you're serious about. Apply those same organizing skills to your faith.

Respond

Father, help us to see our days clearly, to sort through what needs urgent attention and what doesn't. Help us see and sort thoughtfully so our actions grow toward you. Amen.
